Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim sits on the board of a few companies: he is the current chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, chairman of QSR Brands Holdings Bhd, chairman of AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd. and a non-executive director of Sunway Bhd.
Tan Sri Jamaludin was the former President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Group Berhad (2008-2020) and also Chairman of Celcom Axiata Berhad (Malaysia), and sits on the boards of PT XL Axiata Tbk (Indonesia) and M1 Limited (Singapore). He has worked in the ICT industry for about 35 years – 16 years in the IT industry and 20 years in telecommunications industry.
Tan Sri Jamaludin graduated from California State University in 1978 with a B.Sc. in Business Administration and a minor in Mathematics. He started his career as a lecturer in Quantitative Methods at California State University, after he obtained his MBA from Portland State University, Oregon in 1980. He then spent 12 years in IBM (1981-1993). In 1993, he was appointed CEO of Digital Equipment Malaysia (the Malaysian branch of Digital Equipment, then the second largest IT company worldwide). In 1997, he joined Maxis Communications Berhad, and was appointed CEO in 1998.
Tan Sri Jamaludin was involved in education in various capacities including as a board member of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (2006-2008) and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (2007-2011). He had also served as a member of the Board of the government-owned venture capital company, Mavcap Bhd (2001-2005) and a few others. He is a co-founder of Fatanah Ventures Berhad, an aggressive investment firm consisting of former corporate titan CEOs, Corporate Finance specialists and Thought Leaders.
